Great starting place for anyone who's thinking about representing themselves in a civil trial, (particularly for plaintiffs).

Great general information about bringing a civil suit yourself. Good advice and lots of important tips and warnings throughout. A must-read for anyone considering representing themselves in court. Bear in mind that this will not be the only thing you need to read, but it will steer you to resources that are essential to familiarize yourself with: Rules of Evidence, Rules of Civil Procedure, and local court rules. Gives some helpful samples of various motions and explains events that are likely to take place, from filing your suit, to discovery, pre-trial conferences, voire dire jury selection, courtroom trial procedures and ettiquette, and post-trial business. I checked this book out from my public library, and then realized I needed to have my own copy for repeated reference.

Not as useful as I expected
By Leo
The book like most attorneys makes a big effort to get you to settle your case before going to Court.
It provides for a general summary of how things works but does not provide the legal forms which are customarily used in legal Court proceedings.
Also, because it was not purchased direct from the NOLO website, they did not offer the additional support which is offered by the NOLO tech support. Had I purchased it directly from NOLO I'm sure the additional support and answers to my questions would have been beneficial.
